Pchum Ben

Pchum Ben is a public holiday in Cambodia that follows the period called “Vassa,” a kind of “Buddhist Lent,” and has been kept with great devotion by the Khmer people for longer than anyone can remember.

These images are from my hometown pagoda in Phnom Penh, shot today as two women delicately prepare hand made little beautiful offerings from fresh local flowers.

Over the next weeks, there will be multiple rituals and celebrations going on and I try to cover Pchum Ben in-depth with my camera.
